The New Era Begins: Coach Julian Moreira Leads the Rebirth of Women's Volleyball at Atlantis University
Miami, FL – June 30, 2025 The Atlantis University Women’s Volleyball program is back, and it’s not just a return; it’s a reinvention. Leading this new era is Coach Julian Moreira, a homegrown talent with a commanding presence and over 15 years of experience in volleyball, both on the court and on the sidelines. His mission? Build from the ground up, instill a championship culture, and prepare the next generation of athletes to compete, grow, and lead.
Coach Moreira's volleyball journey began at Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School, where he earned County All-Star recognition and helped power his team to two district titles, two regional championships, two state tournament appearances, and a memorable run to the Final Four. He went on to compete at New Jersey City University from 2017 to 2020, making an impact as an Opposite and Middle Blocker. He was a two-time team captain who earned Second Team All-Conference honors and ranked among the top blockers and hitters in the conference. But his legacy extends beyond the stat sheet. Volleyball shaped who I am, Coach Moreira shared. It taught me leadership resilience and how to uplift the people around me. That's the culture I want to pass on here at Atlantis.

Coach Moreira's coaching resume is as diverse as it is impactful. He has led and mentored athletes at every level:
-
Sacred Heart NYC – JV Head Coach 2018 to 2019
-
GSEVC Volleyball Club – 16s Assistant Coach 2019 to 2020
-
Pratt Institute – Interim Head Coach 2021 to 2022
-
SIB Select – Current Head Coach 2023 to Present
These roles refined his coaching philosophy, focusing on culture first, building a system that promotes consistency and growth, and demanding excellence every single day. "If you don't make the culture on Day One, you'll never have it," he said on The Interview Show with Laura Rojas. This will be a young team, and we're going to build it on commitment, love for the game, and trust in each other.
A Process Driven Approach

Coach Moreira is methodical yet passionate. His early focus at Atlantis will be on installing a playing system that demands high standards and emphasizes film study to help players see the game more clearly and react faster. He doesn't expect perfection, but he demands progress. We want to be 1 percent better every day. If we do that, we'll be where we need to be by the end of the season. That mindset, paired with his technical expertise, will set the foundation for a team that not only competes but consistently improves.
A Team That Will Fight for More Than Wins
Moreira promises that the 2025 Women's Volleyball team will be more than just athletes; they will be ambassadors. Ambassadors for their family, their community, or Atlantis University. You'll see a team that never quits, that's always prepared, and that represents the AU name with pride, he said. That's the expectation and that's the standard.
