Bio
Mauricio Valenzuela is a Chilean basketball coach and physical trainer who joined the Atlantis University Women’s Basketball program for the 2025–2026 season as Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach.
 
With more than two decades of experience, Valenzuela has coached at the professional, collegiate, and youth levels in Chile and the United States. He has been Head Coach of men’s professional teams in Chile’s First Division, Assistant Coach for the Chilean U16 and U17 National Teams, and Head Coach at the university level in Chile.
 
In the United States, Coach Valenzuela has served as a High School Basketball Coach, and currently works in Miami as the Founder and Director of Miami Lions Academy, a youth basketball program recognized for its high-performance methodology and modern player development approach. He also leads the Miami Lions Travel Team and directs the Training Camp Miami International, a project that brings young athletes from across Latin America to train in the U.S. high-performance system.
 
Valenzuela holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and a Licensure in Education, specializing in player development, strength and conditioning, and basketball tactics and strategy. He has helped develop numerous players who have advanced to professional and collegiate careers in Latin America and the United States.
 
His coaching philosophy emphasizes holistic player development, discipline, tactical intelligence, and strategic understanding of the game. Valenzuela combines physical preparation with mental and technical growth to form complete athletes ready to compete at the highest level.
