Atlantis Men’s Basketball Goes 1–2 on Demanding Ohio Road Trip
Atlantis University Men's Basketball closed last week's Ohio road trip with three games in three days, finishing 1–2 while facing a demanding slate that tested depth, execution, and resilience.
The stretch opened Wednesday night at Cincinnati-Clermont, where the Atlanteans fell 103–76. Despite the final margin, Atlantis showed early fight before Clermont's efficiency and rebounding control shifted the game. Santiago Insaurralde delivered a standout offensive performance, pouring in 28 points on aggressive shot selection and consistent pressure in the paint, while adding eight rebounds to anchor the effort. Defensively, Folayemi Salako made his presence felt with 10 rebounds and two blocks, providing resistance inside against a physical frontcourt.
On Thursday, Atlantis responded with its most complete performance of the week, edging Miami-Middletown 74–73 in a tightly contested matchup that came down to late-game execution. Insaurralde again led the offensive charge, finishing with 22 points and a dominant 13-rebound double-double, controlling the tempo and closing out possessions on both ends. Ornie Brooks played a key two-way role, contributing nine points, three assists, and strong perimeter defense in 37 minutes, while the Atlanteans' rebounding advantage proved decisive in the one-point victory.
The trip concluded Saturday afternoon with a 117–71 loss to Southeastern Illinois College. Atlantis battled early but struggled to match the Falcons' shooting efficiency. Insaurralde continued his consistent week with 20 points and six rebounds, leading the offense once again. Salako stood out defensively, recording seven rebounds and anchoring interior coverage despite sustained pressure. Across the three games, Insaurralde emerged as the clear offensive leader, averaging over 23 points per game, while Salako's rebounding and rim protection set the defensive standard. The week underscored both the Atlanteans' competitive resolve and the areas that will define their growth moving forward.
