Atlantis University fell 83–70 to NCAA Division II Rollins College on November 6 at the Alfond Sports Center in Winter Park. The Atlanteans showed composure and growth, matching the Tars in field goals and closing strong in the second half.
Atlantis matched Rollins in total field goals (26) and connected on 11 three-pointers while shooting an efficient 43 percent from the floor. Guard Sonny Matos led the Atlanteans with 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including three triples and six assists, fueling a second-half surge that trimmed what had been a 19-point deficit to single digits. Santiago Insuarralde followed with 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals, anchoring both ends of the court with consistent tempo and control.
Artem Sorokin contributed 10 points and a pair of three-pointers, while forward Younes Kouis added six points and six rebounds off the bench. Jermaine Suazo also reached double figures with 10 points, hitting two threes that provided a late spark. Freshman Daniel Carter made an efficient debut, scoring six points in limited minutes and showing confidence from long range.
Defensively, the Atlanteans forced 18 turnovers from Rollins and converted them into 19 points. Atlantis also dominated in transition, scoring 14 fast-break points compared to Rollins' nine. Despite Rollins' size advantage and efficiency inside, the Atlanteans held their own on the boards, collecting 29 rebounds to Rollins' 41 while limiting second-chance opportunities. The first half saw Rollins shoot 54 percent to take a 43–35 lead at the break, but Atlantis responded with sharper ball movement and perimeter shooting in the second. The team's 72 percent three-point percentage after halftime reflected growing confidence and offensive chemistry. The game served as a key early test for Head Coach Hernadez's squad, proving their ability to compete with established programs and setting a tone for the season ahead.
Though the final score favored Rollins, Atlantis University's balanced scoring and poise under pressure showed clear progress. With Matos and Insuarralde leading the charge and a productive bench emerging early, the Atlanteans left Winter Park with momentum and identity, ready to build on their foundation as the season continues.
