Atlantis University fell 28–12 to the University of Fort Lauderdale
Atlantis University's football team fell 28–12 to the University of Fort Lauderdale on November 8 in a tough defensive matchup in Plantation. Despite early momentum, the Atlanteans couldn't sustain their offensive rhythm against the Eagles' pressure, and they closed their road stretch with signs of promise on both sides of the ball.
The Atlanteans struck first after a defensive gem by Jase Campbell, who returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown to give
Atlantis had an early 6–2 lead. Quarterback Luke Dunn later connected with Cris Thornton on a 17-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, briefly reclaiming the advantage at 12–9. However, the Eagles answered with a quick 36-yard strike from DeRohn King to Loriston Davids, shifting momentum before halftime. Fort Lauderdale controlled the tempo after the break, capitalizing on turnovers and field position. A field goal and a short rushing touchdown extended their lead to 26–12 by the third quarter, and a late safety in the fourth sealed the outcome. Despite the scoreline, Atlantis' defense remained disciplined, forcing five fumbles and two interceptions. D'Ryan Bartley led the unit with four tackles, an interception, and two forced fumbles, while linebacker Jordan Anderson added eight solo tackles.
Offensively, Dunn completed 14 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, supported by consistent receiving from Thornton, who posted 37 yards and a score. Jonathan Cabral and Thomas Schuck each contributed multiple catches as Atlantis moved the ball effectively between the 20s, but struggled to finish drives under pressure. Running back Kaden Sims led the ground effort with eight yards, while the offensive line faced nine sacks against an aggressive Eagles front. The Atlanteans produced key highlights on special teams and defense, notably outgaining the hosts on third downs and maintaining strong possession control. However, a series of short-yardage miscues limited scoring opportunities. Defensively, Atlantis allowed just 14 first-half points, showcasing improved containment and pursuit.
While the loss drops Atlantis to 0–2, the team's defensive resilience and energy remain bright spots. Campbell's touchdown return, Bartley's leadership, and Dunn's composed play reflect the team's growth under pressure. The Atlanteans return home seeking to build on their defensive identity and translate early momentum into full-game execution.
