AU Dominates Southwest Community Christian College, Secures a 25-2 Victory
Last Saturday, the Atlantis University (AU) Football team dominated Southwest Community Christian College from Texas at Ives Estate Park, securing a 25-2 victory. The game started at 10:00 AM, and AU's defense and resilience turned a slow start into a dominant win.
1st Quarter: Defensive Battle
The game began with a tightly contested first quarter. SW CCC took the lead, scoring at the 12:00-minute mark, putting their team up 0-2. Later, CB Malachi Givens snagged an interception. Still, their offense struggled to capitalize, failing to score despite four attempts from the 10-yard line. With 4 minutes remaining, Jaden Henry made an exceptional interception.
2nd Quarter: AU Defense Takes Control
The second quarter saw AU's defense shine. At the 12-minute mark, DL Kennard Thomas trapped the Southwest quarterback inside the end zone after a bad snap, resulting in a safety and boosting AU's lead to 6-2. Neither team scored again before halftime, keeping the score tight at 6-2.
3rd Quarter: AU Inches Closer
After a 50-yard rush by RB Keon Taylor, the team again found itself just 10 yards from the end zone, only to falter for the second time. AU's kicker, Jacob McCarter, failed to convert a field goal, with the ball being blocked. With 4:25 minutes remaining, DL Lathario Wright recovered a loose ball on the ground at the 30-yard line. RB Keon Taylor displayed his strength by dragging several Southwest defenders. Yet, AU's offense struggled to break through Southwest's defense at the 10-yard line for the third time.
4th Quarter: AU Seals the Deal
Heading into the final quarter with a 6-2 lead, AU was determined to break the game open. At the minute 14:00, Camron Thompson scored a crucial touchdown, extending the lead to 12-2. Although the kicker, Jacob McCarter, missed another kick, he hit the goal this time. In a critical defensive moment, CB Jaden Henry intercepted a 40+ yard pass from Southwest, further stifling their comeback hopes. At the 8:30-minute mark, TE Kenwuan Harris caught a pass from QB Junly Deller to score another touchdown. Jacob McCarter converted the field goal, making it 19-2. AU closed the game in style, as RB Anthony Bridgewater scored the final touchdown with just 57 seconds left, following a decisive push through the defensive line at the 1-yard mark.
Final Score: AU 25, Southwest 2
This decisive victory demonstrates AU's defensive prowess and determination, even amid early offensive struggles. With this win, AU continues to build momentum for the rest of the season. Next Stop: Georgia.
