Atlantis University Baseball used timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to secure a 9–7 victory over Penn State Fayette on March 12, overcoming multiple lead changes in a competitive contest defined by offensive production from both sides.
Atlantis University earned a hard-fought 9–7 win over Penn State Fayette, a game marked by constant momentum swings and strong offensive performances. The Atlanteans struck early in the bottom of the first inning when Astudillo delivered a two-run single to open the scoring. Moments later, Chung was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in another run and giving Atlantis University an early 3–0 advantage.
Penn State Fayette responded quickly at the top of the second inning, capitalizing on a combination of situational hitting and defensive miscues. A fielder's choice put the first run on the board before an error allowed two additional runs to score. Perry followed with an RBI single, pushing Penn State Fayette ahead and shifting the momentum. Penn State Fayette briefly regained the lead in the sixth inning after Lessman recorded an RBI single to make the score 7–6. The Atlanteans immediately responded with their most decisive offensive sequence of the afternoon. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Astudillo singled to left field to drive in the tying run before Knowles Jr. followed with another RBI single to center. Chung then delivered the decisive blow with a double to right field that brought in the go-ahead run, giving Atlantis University a 9–7 advantage they would not relinquish.
Astudillo led the offensive effort with three hits in four at-bats, including a single in the first inning, a double in the second, and another single in the sixth that helped spark the decisive rally. Knowles Jr. and Chung also recorded multiple hits, contributing to Atlantis University's total of 11 hits on the afternoon. The Atlanteans displayed an aggressive approach on the basepaths, stealing seven bases as a team, with Ruiz accounting for two of them.
